Replanting of flower beds
We have recently finished re-planting the flower beds at the practice putting green and hopefully you appreciate the hard work that the following volunteers have carried out;
Robert Murray,
Ewen Templeton
Pamela MacEwan
Eunice Muir
Marion Munro
Pamela MacKenzie
Pauline MacEwen
Chris Minto
Maybe pop down, get a wee gin & tonic and relax outside and have a look at the flower bed.

Back to back victories in Four Castles Tournament
RCGC were back to back winners of the Four Castles Tournament on a glorious sunny day at Bothwell on Sunday 10th July.
The annual tournament is hosted on a rotational basis between Ranfurly Castle, Bothwell Castle, Haggs Castle and Buchanan Castle Golf Clubs. RCGC won the inaugural event in 2000 and are the only Club never to have lost the event as hosts, with a six from six record.
Only two Clubs have won the event 'away' from home - Buchanan Castle (2011) and Ranfurly Castle (2002 & 2022)
Hospitality at Bothwell Castle was of a high standard and they presented a truly outstanding golf course to the visiting clubs.
Many congratulations to the 18 players who took part, including Team Manager Paul Morrell. The Trophy is awarded to the Team with the highest aggregate score from all players - a valiant effort saw RCGC pip the hosts by just 9 stableford points.

CAPTAIN’S HANDOVER 10 January 2021
Welcome to 2021 and although we have started with further restrictions, we do at least have two very real positives. Firstly the roll out of the COVID-19 Vaccine Programme with hope for a brighter, healthier year and secondly that golf remains recognised exercise, and although restricted to two households, we are able, albeit weather dependent, to play golf or stretch our limbs, fill our lungs with fresh air and enjoy spectacular views as we walk the wonderful Ranfurly Castle fairways.
WHAT A YEAR!
As I reflect on my year of Captaincy of this prestigious club I can truly say that it has been a privilege. At the heart of golf is the joy of not only playing the course, but of playing your golfing partners. This has been particularly important during 2020 as the time we have spent with our friends and adversaries during social and competitive games has undoubtedly been essential to our good mental health, physical and spiritual wellbeing. I have witnessed numerous examples of selflessness, compassion and care in the midst of these most difficult of times.
The introduction of essential Digital booking and scoring has been a major change and prepared all golfers for the implementation of WHS. This would have been much more challenging in normal circumstances, and would have taken us a considerably longer time.
Despite all these barriers, we successfully completed the Club Championship and numerous trophies and plates. Congratulations to every competitor, runner-up and winner. Although more formal presentations have been out of the question, award speeches, acceptances and congratulations have progressed on the Terrace, standing on picnic tables and on the 18th Green. Importantly however, it is our hope and intention to address this when permissible.
Without fear of contradiction I can confidently say that I have had a unique Captaincy……maybe one that a clinician is ‘blessed’ to have had!
I hand you over to Captain Brian McLaughlin and wish him and Lady Captain Gillian Donaghy and Junior Captain Archie Sinclair every best wish for a very successful, happy and healthy golfing year.
With warm wishes - Stay safe and well
Eunice

INTO THE NEW………….Here’s to 2021
NEW CAPTAIN’S MESSAGE 10 January 2021
Firstly, I want to say a big thank you to Eunice Muir for all the hard work she has done over the past year in what has been an extremely challenging time both on and off the golf course and wish her every success in her new role as RCGC Board Chair.
I consider it a great honour and privilege to take on the role of Captain and I am proud to follow in the footsteps of some great Captains. The moment requires that I be brief so I will not name them, but you know who you are.
There is no question that the club faces stiff challenges in the coming year and my role will bring with it a lot of responsibility, hard work and countless obstacles but we have many resources and a core of experienced and willing members to tackle this and I am confident that we can achieve both the required and desired results for Ranfurly Castle Golf Club.
I will represent all of the members of Ranfurly Castle Golf Club to the best of my ability and look forward to welcoming more new Members, Visitors and Guests during 2021. I’m obviously starting my year with lots of restrictions and with uncertainty regarding the planning of future events however we are hopeful of a full diary with Club Competitions, Teams and Open Days.
With kind regards
Brian McLaughlin RCGC Club Captain 2021
